| The Vista Fire Department proudly congratulates Firefighter/EMT Hanna Zhao on successfully completing the Basic Passenger Vehicle Rescue course, a comprehensive 15-hour training program focused on the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely operate at motor vehicle rescue incidents.
Basic Passenger Vehicle Rescue provides firefighters with education and hands-on training in passenger vehicle rescue operations and covers the Awareness and Operations Level requirements of NFPA 1006 for Common Passenger Vehicle Rescue.
Throughout the course, participants studied scene safety, vehicle design and construction, rescue terminology, tools and equipment, incident action plan application, and scene management. Hands-on skills training included vehicle stabilization, gaining access to trapped or injured occupants, patient care, and disentanglement techniques.
Passenger vehicle rescue incidents can present firefighters with complex hazards and rapidly changing conditions. Proper stabilization, coordinated scene operations, and the safe use of specialized rescue tools are essential to protecting both patients and emergency responders.
By completing this training, Firefighter/EMT Zhao has strengthened her knowledge and practical capabilities in vehicle rescue operations, further preparing her to safely and effectively assist patients involved in motor vehicle accidents and other vehicle-related emergencies.
Congratulations to Hanna on her continued dedication to training, professional development, and excellence in the fire service.
All training is provided free of charge to Vista Fire Department members, and we are always looking for new volunteers!
