| The Vista Fire Department proudly congratulates Firefighter/EMT Ashtin Rama on successfully completing the Airbag Lifting Systems course at the Westchester County Fire Training Center in Valhalla, New York!
Firefighter/EMT Rama completed the 3-hour program, which provides an in-depth look at air bag lifting system operations and their role in rescue and extrication incidents. This specialized equipment is designed to safely lift, move, and shift heavy loads of various shapes and awkward sizes, making it a valuable tool during complex emergency scenes. When properly deployed and inflated, airbags work effectively alongside other extrication equipment to support safer and more efficient rescue operations.
The course covered system components, proper assembly, general operating procedures, cribbing techniques, and key safety considerations and best practices. Training like this is critical because airbag lifting systems require hands-on familiarity and confidence to be used effectively under pressure, especially during time-sensitive emergencies in challenging conditions.
All training is provided free of charge to Vista Fire Department members, and we are always looking for new volunteers!
