Bailout Training and Geriatrics Drills for 10/21/24

This week's Monday Night Drill was a "Bailout Training" drill for our Firefighters and a "Geriatrics" drill for our EMTs.
The "Bailout Training" drill had our Vista Firefighters conducting the practical portion of our annual bailout training. Probationary Firefighter Peter Cipriano completes Engine 142 training

The Vista Fire Department is proud to announce that Probationary Firefighter Peter Cipriano is now qualified on Engine 142.
Probationary Firefighter Cipriano completed the E-142 driver training by learning how to operate E-142's pump panel and completing 8 hours or more of drive time behind the wheel. Probationary Firefighter Cipriano will now move onto learning how to drive Engine 143 going forward.

Tanker Shuttle and Glucometry Drills for 10/14/24

This week's Monday Night Drill was a "Tanker Shuttle" drill for our Firefighters and a "Glucometry" drill for our EMTs.
The "Tanker Shuttle" drill had our Vista Firefighters practicing water supply operations during a fire. A "tanker shuttle" is where Firefighters are forced to move water via tankers due to areas with no fire hydrants or good drafting resources. It is instrumental for Departments ... Sunday Training for 10/13/24

This Sunday morning we held Driver Training for our members who are becoming Apparatus Drivers on Engine 141, Engine 142 and Engine 143.
The Driver Training program is how Vista Fire Department personnel become cleared on any piece of Fire or EMS apparatus. Members conduct several hours of "drive time" behind the wheel of each apparatus before they are cleared to become a driver. Tasks included during ... (Full Story & Photos)

2024 Fire Prevention Week at Meadow Pond Elementary School

Throughout the past week "Fireman Tom" Ritchey & several of our members visited Meadow Pond Elementary School to teach students proper fire safety tips and procedures for "Fire Prevention Week."
"Fireman Tom" visited every classroom at MPES to show them proper fire suppression techniques, the importance of smoke detectors in their homes and how to properly exit a residence that is filled with smoke.
