Sunday Training for 10/24/21

This Sunday morning we held Driver Training for our members who are becoming Apparatus Drivers on Engine 141 for our weekly Sunday Training.

The Driver Training program is how Vista Fire Department personnel become cleared on any piece of Fire or EMS apparatus. Members conduct several hours of "drive time" behind the wheel of each apparatus before they are cleared to become a driver. Tasks included ... (Full Story & Photos)

2021 Fire Prevention Week at Meadow Pond Elementary School

Throughout the past week "Fireman Tom" Ritchey & several of our members visited Meadow Pond Elementary School to teach students proper Fire Safety tips and procedures.

"Fireman Tom" visited every classroom at MPES to show them proper fire suppression techniques, the importance of smoke detectors in their homes and how to properly exit a residence that is filled with smoke.

Assistant Chief Brian Porco joins Ridgefield (CT) Police Department

Vista Fire Department, October 21

The Vista Fire Department would like to congratulate Assistant Chief Brian Porco on joining the Ridgefield (CT) Police Department. Assistant Chief Porco was sworn in on October 21st and will begin the Police academy on October 22nd.

Assistant Chief Porco has been in the Vista Fire Department since December 2010 and currently helps oversee the EMS operations in our Department.

Firefighter Martin Rojas completes Engine 143 training

Vista Fire Department, October 20

The Vista Fire Department is proud to announce that Firefighter Martin Rojas is now qualified on Engine 143.

Firefighter Rojas completed the E-143 driver training by learning how to operate E-143's pump panel and completing 8 hours or more of "drive time" behind the wheel. Firefighter Rojas will now move on to learning how to drive Engine 141 going forward.

Hoseline Advancement Drill for 10/18/21

This week's Monday drill was "Hoseline Advancement" for our members.

The "Hoseline Advancement" drill had our Vista Firefighters reviewing how to stretch an 1-3/4" hoseline off of Engine 141. Vista Firefighters learned how to stretch a hoseline and how to conduct the proper placement of a hoseline before they enter a structure.
