This week’s Monday night drill was a “Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) Overview” for our members.

The “Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) Overview” drill provided our Vista Fire Department personnel with a deeper understanding of the importance of CISD and how the CISD team is activated when first responders need support. Critical Incident Stress Debriefing is a structured method of crisis intervention designed to help manage the emotional and psychological impact that critical incidents can have on first responders.

Our Firefighters and EMS personnel learned how such incidents can affect responders immediately and in the days that follow — and how having the right kind of support and resources in place can make all the difference in promoting long-term wellness and resilience within the emergency services.
