| This week’s Monday Night Drill was an “Extrication” drill for our members.
In this exercise, members honed their skills in removing victims from vehicles involved in serious accidents. Using hydraulic rescue tools such as spreaders, cutters, rams, and other specialized equipment, crews practiced cutting, spreading, and lifting metal to create safe openings for patient access and removal. The drill also emphasized vehicle stabilization, hazard mitigation, and patient packaging, with our Firefighters and EMS crews working side-by-side to safely remove patients and provide immediate medical care. This seamless coordination ensured that once victims were extricated, they could be transitioned quickly and safely into EMS care for transport to the hospital. These realistic scenarios help prepare our members for the challenging and complex rescues they may face in the field.
