This week's Monday Night Drill was a "Forcible Entry" drill for our Firefighters and an "Ambulance & Equipment Operations" drill for our EMTs.

The "Forcible Entry" drill had our Vista Firefighters reviewing the proper procedures and techniques on how to force open a door in the event of a Fire. The term "forcible entry" is defined as the act of gaining entry into a building or occupancy via a door, window or even through a wall, by the use of force. The Vista Firefighters specifically focused their training this Monday on gaining entry via a door by using a Forcible Entry prop. We would like to thank the Pound Ridge Fire Department for letting us use their forcible entry prop this past Monday!

The "Ambulance & Equipment Operations" drill had our Vista EMS personnel reviewing how to utilize all of the equipment located on our ambulances. Vista EMS personnel covered equipment such as how to operate our stretcher, how to utilize the stair chair and how to use a Kendrick extrication device (KED) on a call. This type of training is important for our Vista EMS personnel to conduct as the members who have been in the Department for a while use this opportunity to refresh themselves on equipment they haven't used in some time and it also gives our newer members an opportunity to utilize some of our ambulance equipment for the first time in a non-emergency setting.
