This week's Monday drill was an "ASHER Awareness" drill for our members.
The "ASHER (Active Shooter / Hostile Event Response) Awareness" drill had Vista Fire Department and Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps personnel learning about how the Police, Fire and EMS operations would respond during these types of emergencies led by officers of the Westchester County Police Department. Our personnel reviewed how we would interface with law enforcement, how we would properly treat & move patients and we concluded the evening by conducting a full scale scenario of an ASHER incident. This type of training is what will help prepare our personnel in responding to Active Shooter / Hostile Event Response (ASHER) related incidents in the future.
The Vista Fire Department would like to thank PO Jason Payne, Det. John Gould, PO Brian Tierney, PO Brett Schlosser, PO Jessica Griesinger and PO Michael Huffman of the Westchester County Police Department for leading the training, members of the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps for joining the training scenario last night, and to the Katonah-Lewisboro School District for allowing us to train at Meadow Pond this past Monday night!
