This week's Monday drill was a "Extrication" drill for our members.
The "Extrication" drill had our members practicing a motor vehicle accident scenario. Vista Firefighters practiced extrication operations utilizing tools such as the spreaders, cutters & hydraulic ram while Vista EMS personnel practiced patient care. Once the car was properly stabilized, both Vista Firefighters and EMS personnel worked together removing the patient from the vehicle once extrication operations were concluded. Motor vehicle extrication is the process of removing a person who has been involved in a motor vehicle accident when conventional means of an exit are impossible or inadvisable.
