This week's Monday Night Drill was a "Hydrant Service" drill for our Firefighters and an "Assisting the Paramedic" drill for our EMTs.

The "Hydrant Service" drill had our Vista Firefighters servicing the dry hydrants as a preventative maintenance measure for the Vista Fire District. Conducting a hydrant service regularly allows motor pump operators to get water faster than they would when a hydrant may be obstructed with silt due to the seasons. While the Vista Firefighters serviced and checked all the dry hydrants in the district, it also gave those who have been driver training the opportunity to practice their pump panel skills.

The "Assisting the Paramedic" drill led by Westchester EMS Paramedic Jason Hinkley saw our EMS personnel go over what the Paramedics need during care as they transport patients to local hospitals and how our EMTs can support them during patient care. Vista EMS personnel received an overview on the LifePak ECG machine, the paramedic jump bag and assisting with fluid bags for patients. This type of training will continue to help our EMS personnel have a strong working relationship with the Paramedics when operating on an EMS scene. We would like to thank Paramedic Hinkley for joining us last night to help train our EMS personnel!
