This week's Monday Night Drill was a "Bloodborne Pathogens" drill for our members.
The "Bloodborne Pathogens" drill had our Vista Fire Department personnel conducting our annual training for bloodborne pathogens. This type of training covers NFPA 1581, the standard on Fire Department infection control program and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1030, the occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens. These standards require all first responders to be trained in the recognition and prevention of getting a disease or virus from a bloodborne pathogen while on an emergency incident.
