Heat Emergencies and Nozzle Techniques & Hoseline Advancement Drills for 05/15/23

This week's Monday Night Drill was a "Nozzle Techniques and Hoseline Advancement" drill for our Firefighters and a "Heat Emergencies" drill for our EMTs.

The "Nozzle Techniques and Hoseline Advancement" drill had our Vista Firefighters reviewing different nozzle techniques while advancing an 1-3/4" hoseline. While our Vista Firefighters practiced various nozzle techniques, our motor pump operators also practiced pump panel operations. Vista Firefighters conducted these techniques during a structure fire scenario so they could practice how they would respond during a structure fire.

The "Heat Emergencies" drill had our Vista EMS personnel reviewing how to treat patients dealing with issues stemming from high outside temperatures. Some of the heat related emergency topics our EMTs reviewed included heat exhaustion, heat stroke and heat cramps. Vista EMS personnel went over several call scenarios on treating these patients and the proper way to hydrate them when suffering from these related issues.
