SCBA Operations and ePCR Review Drills for 02/20/23

This week's Monday Night Drill was a "SCBA Operations" drill for our Firefighters and an "ePCR Review" drill for our EMTs.

The "SCBA Operations" drill had our Vista Fire Department personnel following 150 feet of 1-3/4" hose line through several obstacles that challenged our Firefighters to conduct skills such as "reduced profile," "full removal," and how to handle getting your SCBA tangled up by various obstructions. This type of training helps our Firefighters better prepare themselves for the challenges they may face in a structure fire atmosphere when they may need to exit a building or conduct various tasks such as a search & rescue.

The "ePCR Review" drill had our Vista EMS personnel reviewing how to use the ePCR system, what we learned from the ePCR system from the past year and discussed some upcoming EMS protocol changes. Prehospital Care Reports (PCR's) are the documentation of all the care and pertinent patient information that our EMT's will receive during an EMS call. It's important for our EMS personnel to review the ePCR system each year to make sure all personnel are up to date on how to use the system and to stay current on new features.
