Attack Engine 141
"141" is our main Fire Attack Engine and Ladder Truck.
This is the engine that responds directly to the scene of a structure fire.
It lays hose from the road to the structure so that it can deliver water supplied by
our Tanker 4 and Mutual-Aid Tankers from other departments.
"141" is equipped with a hydraulic ladder lift that lowers its ladder from the top
of the truck for easy access; the ladder can then be taken off the truck by
firefighters for use in ventilating a roof or reaching an upper storey window.
In its crew-cab, "141" provides seating for four additional firefighters with full gear.
"141" boasts a Hale 1500 g.p.m. two-stage water pump for either volume or pressure pumping.
It carries enough on-board water (1000 gallons) to provide ample continuous flow
while being supplied by a relay of water tankers.
It also carries 2000 ft. of 5-inch supply line, hard suction tubes for drafting from a water source,
three 1¾ inch hose crosslays with Task Force Tip quick-detach automatic fog/straight-stream nozzels,
and a 2½ inch hose line with a siamese for stretching two 1¾ inch hose lines behind a structure,
and a second 2½ inch hose line with a Task Force Tip quick-detach automatic fog/straight-stream nozzel.
In the rear, under the water tank, is an electric rewind 1 inch booster reel suitable for dousing small
brush fires.
Included in the array of equipment on "141" is an on-board electric generator
to power scene lamps, a hand-held spotlight, or an electric ventilation fan.
Like all of our engines is equiped with automatic snow chains.
Other equipment includes:
six Scott Airpacks, extra Scott bottles,
a chain saw with short carbide and long normal blades,
axes, haligan bars, pike poles, and other tools,
a CO2 and gas detector,
water extinguishers,
a cell phone,
six rechargable handlights,
electric and gas-powered ventilation fans,
chimney fire equipment,
first-aid gear,
speedy-dry and plug-and-dike,
and 35 foot and 14 foot aluminum ladders
and an Akron deck gun.
"141" is displayed in most parades that we march in.
