Firefighter J.T. Bowensmith completes Rescue Tech - Basic

The Vista Fire Department would like to congratulate Firefighter J.T. Bowensmith on completing the Rescue Tech - Basic class at the Westchester County Fire Training Center in Valhalla, New York.

Foreman Jake Melcher completes Rescue 13 training

The Vista Fire Department is proud to announce that Foreman Jake Melcher is now qualified on Rescue 13!

Foreman Melcher completed the R-13 driver training by learning how to operate the pump panel, how to operate the extrication tools on the apparatus and completing 8 hours or more of "drive time" behind the wheel. Foreman Melcher will now move onto learning how to drive Engine 142.

Forcible Entry & EMS In-Service Drill for 6/27/16

This week's Monday drill was "Forcible Entry" for our Firefighters and an "EMS In-Service" Drill for our EMT's.

Our EMT's went over "check and inject" during their in-service drill as they reviewed the policies & procedures on Epi-Pen auto injectors, they went over how to use the suction on our Ambulances and did some training on our Lucas CPR machine. Sunday Training for 6/26/16

Vista Fire Department, June 27

This week's "Sunday Stretch" training saw our Firefighters review how to properly advance an 1-3/4" hose line once inside a building. Vista Firefighters practiced advancing a charged 1-3/4" hose line into a structure and reviewed techniques on how to extinguish specific fires throughout the scenarios.
