This Sunday morning we held a "Firefighter Skills Class," "Bailout Instructor Training" and Driver Training for our members who are becoming Apparatus Drivers on the Ambulances for our weekly Sunday Training.
This Sunday's "Firefighter Skills Class" had our Firefighting personnel reviewing the two minute personal protective equipment (PPE) drill, full removal of an SCBA and how to perform several figure 8 knots. This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who plan on attending the New York State Firefighter I program succeed in their class and for our Firefighters who have completed Firefighter I to keep up with their skills.
The "Bailout Instructor Training" had our Vista Firefighters who will be handling our internal training going over the practical portion for instructor purposes. Vista Fire Department bailout training instructors conducted several "jumps" using different techniques and procedures on how to operate the bailout system followed by how they should conduct the training as an instructor. This is the final part of our Vista Firefighters becoming bailout training instructors to handle our annual training moving forward. With the instructor training completed, our Vista Fire Department instructors will begin the annual bailout training process with the rest of our Firefighting personnel.
