On June 1st, 2019 the Vista Fire Department held their Annual Inspection Dinner at the Vista Firehouse on Smith Ridge Road in South Salem, New York.

At the 2019 Vista FD Annual Inspection Dinner, the VFD awarded Foreman Dan Castelhano as their 2018-2019 Firefighter of the Year, Captain Brian Porco as their 2018-2019 EMT of the Year and Firefighter/EMT Olivia Buzzeo & Firefighter/EMT Elly Hersam as their 2018-2019 Co-Rookie of the Year.

Foreman Dan Castelhano joined the Vista Fire Department in May 2016 and has been certified in courses such as Firefighter I, EMT Basic, Firefighter Survival, Apparatus Operator - Emergency Vehicle Operations, Truck Company Operations, Fire Officer I and is Nationally Certified in Firefighter I. Foreman Castelhano was also the 2017-2018 Rookie of the Year at last year's Annual Inspection Dinner and showcases the dedication it takes to receive the Firefighter of the Year award in the Vista Fire Department.

Captain Brian Porco joined the Vista Fire Department in December 2010 and has been certified as an EMT since 2017. Captain Porco was the #6 responder in 2018 attending 134 calls out of 285, was the #9 drill attendee participating in 29 out of 38 drills and was the #1 responder as a lead EMT in 2018. Captain Porco previously won the Rookie of the Year award in 2011-2012 and the Firefighter of the Year award in 2013-2014.

Firefighter/EMT Olivia Buzzeo joined the Vista Fire Department in June 2017 and has been certified in courses such as Firefighter I & EMT Basic during her time with the Vista Fire Department. Firefighter/EMT Elly Hersam joined the Vista Fire Department in August 2017 and has been certified in courses such as Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations (BEFO) & EMT Basic during her time with the Vista Fire Department. Firefighter/EMT Buzzeo & Firefighter/EMT Hersam showcase the dedication it takes to receive the Rookie of the Year award in the Vista Fire Department.
