| We at the Vista Fire Department would like to congratulate Foreman Dan Castelhano on completing the "Rescue Task Force for EMS" Class at the State Preparedness Training Center in Oriskany, New York!
Foreman Castelhano completed the 18-hour course described as the following by New York State:
“Recent events have spurred a national discussion on the survivability of victims and safety of first responders during active shooter events (ASEs) and other forms of aggressive deadly behavior (ADB). The Rescue Task Force (RTF) for EMS course provides EMS practitioners with tools and techniques to save civilian lives through the application of RTF and Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) principles.
Instructors will lead discussion on several topics, including a TECC overview, working within the RTF model, and Casualty Collection Point (CCP) management. Students will apply lessons learned in the classroom to skill lanes, including rescue task force movement, hemorrhage control and triage skills. The workshop will culminate in several scenario based activities that will incorporate rescue task force movement, TECC principles, warm zone operations, CCP management, life-saving medical interventions, and collaboration with law enforcement.”
All training is free of charge to the members of the Vista Fire Department and Volunteers are needed! Please visit VistaFD.org for more details on how you can join our team! |
