Module 3 - EMS Scene Operations This module provided a general overview of how the department manages emergency medical services (EMS) scenes. It emphasized the importance of flexibility, as every EMS emergency presents unique challenges. The goal was to equip probationary members with the knowledge needed to assist during EMS calls, understand departmental procedures, and recognize the different roles on scene. To reinforce the concepts covered in the classroom portion, a hands-on practical segment was included. This allowed probationary members to participate in simulated EMS scenarios, giving them a clearer understanding of how scenes are managed in real time. From patient assessment and scene safety to equipment staging and team coordination, the practical exercises offered valuable insight into what to expect and how to contribute effectively during actual EMS calls. Module 4 - Fire Scene Operations In this module, new members were introduced to fire scene procedures. While acknowledging that each fire emergency can unfold differently, this training established a foundational understanding of our approach—from initial dispatch to on-scene tactics. The focus was on teamwork, safety, and following established operational protocols. The "Firefighter Skills Class" offered a verbal walkthrough and overview of how we respond to fire-related emergencies during Module 4, allowing participants in the Onboarding Module Training Program to observe and better understand fireground operations. While not hands-on, this session provided valuable context for new members and served as a refresher for experienced firefighters to reinforce key concepts and strategies for safe and effective operations. The "Onboarding Module Training Program" is an eight-module curriculum designed to equip probationary members with the essential knowledge, skills, and mindset they need to succeed. Each module builds on the last, blending hands-on training with important theoretical insights into firefighting, EMS, and departmental culture. This training not only provides a solid technical foundation but also fosters a sense of connection, confidence, and pride in being part of the Vista Fire Department. By the end of the program, new members are well-prepared to serve safely, effectively, and as part of a unified team. This Sunday morning, we held a "Firefighter Skills Class" alongside our "Onboarding Module Training Program" for several new members of the Vista Fire Department.

The session focused on two core modules:

Module 3 - EMS Scene Operations

This module provided a general overview of how the department manages emergency medical services (EMS) scenes.

Module 4 - Fire Scene Operations

In this module, new members were introduced to fire scene procedures.

This training not only provides a solid technical foundation but also fosters a sense of connection, confidence, and pride in being part of the Vista Fire Department. By the end of the program, new members are well-prepared to serve safely, effectively, and as part of a unified team.
