| This Sunday morning we held a "Motor Pump Operators & Firefighter Skills Class" and an "AHA CPR Class" for our weekly Sunday Training.
This Sunday's "Motor Pump Operators & Firefighter Skills Class" had our Firefighting personnel going over building construction while our prospective drivers practiced pumping Engine 142. Vista Firefighters reviewed each of the five types of Building Construction in the Fire Service and how our Firefighters can identify each type of Building Construction.The five types of Building Construction that every Firefighter should know are: Fire-Resistive (Type 1), Non-Combustible (Type 2), Ordinary (Type 3), Heavy Timber (Type 4) and Wood-Framed (Type 5). This type of training is what will help our prospective Apparatus drivers to become cleared drivers in our Department as well as Firefighters who plan on attending the New York State Firefighter I program succeed in their class, and for our Firefighters who have completed Firefighter I to keep up with their skills.
While the "Motor Pump Operators & Firefighter Skills Class" was going on, the Vista Fire Department held an American Heart Association CPR class for several of our members. Our members take CPR on an annual basis to properly serve the Vista Fire District #1 community.
