This Sunday morning we held a "Motor Pump Operators & Firefighter Skills Class" for our weekly Sunday Training.
This Sunday's "Motor Pump Operators & Firefighter Skills Class" had our Firefighting personnel pumping Engine 141 while our Firefighters went through the mask confidence course. Vista Firefighters practiced going through the mask confidence course for the first time where they could visibly see the obstructions in front of them. As time goes on and skills are strengthen, Vista Firefighters will enter the mask conference course with their vision obstructed to simulate what it would be like in a fire scenario. This type of training is what will help our prospective Apparatus drivers to become cleared drivers in our Department as well as Firefighters who plan on attending the New York State Firefighter I program succeed in their class, and for our Firefighters who have completed Firefighter I to keep up with their skills.
