This Sunday morning we held a "Firefighter Skills Class," an "MPO Class," and an "EMT Skills Class" for our weekly Sunday Training.

This Sunday's "Firefighter Skills Class" focused on going over Firefighting hand tools and the technique known as V.E.I.S. which is vent, enter, isolate and search. This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who plan on attending the New York State Firefighter I program succeed in their class and for our Firefighters who have completed Firefighter I to keep up with their skills.

This Sunday's "MPO Class" had our prospective Engine 142 & Engine 143 drivers practicing how to operate both pump panels by establishing a water source, pulling a prime and feeding a master stream. This type of training is what will help our prospective Apparatus Drivers/MPOs become cleared drivers on Engine 142 and Engine 143.

This Sunday's "EMT Skills Class" had our EMS personnel reviewing cardiac emergencies such as myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure and acute coronary disease. They also practiced how to conduct a cardiac emergency as an EMT through several scenarios. This type of training is what will prepare our EMT Candidates who are planning to take a future EMT Basic class and for our EMTs who have completed EMT Basic to keep up with their skills.
