This Sunday morning we held an "Advanced Firefighter Skills Class," an "MPO Class," a "Firefighter Fundamentals Class" and Driver Training for our members who are becoming Apparatus Drivers on Engine 142.

This Sunday's "Advanced Firefighter Skills Class" had Vista Firefighters practicing stretching an 1-3/4" hose line off of Engine 143 into the 2nd floor of a structure to where a simulated fire was located. This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who have completed various Firefighting classes to keep up with their skills.

This Sunday's "MPO Class" had our prospective Tanker 4 drivers practice learning how to use the Tanker 4 pump panel. Our prospective Tanker 4 drivers practiced drafting and supplying water to an 1-3/4" hose line to simulate hose line advancement during a residential structure fire. This type of training is what will help our prospective Apparatus Drivers/MPOs become cleared drivers on Tanker 4.

This Sunday's "Firefighter Fundamentals Class" focused on the stretching an 1-3/4" hose line, how to conduct forcible entry and the proper way to do search patterns during a primary & secondary search. This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who plan on attending the New York State Firefighter I program succeed in their class and for our Firefighters who have completed Firefighter I to keep up with their skills.
