This Sunday morning we held an "Advanced Firefighter Skills Class," an "EMT Fundamentals Class," a "Firefighter Fundamentals Class" and Driver Training for our members who are becoming Apparatus Drivers on Tanker 4.

This Sunday's "Advanced Firefighter Skills Class" focused on how to perform F.A.S.T. (Firefighter Assist & Search Team) skills by going over how to use the RIT-Pak and replacing a low pressured regulator on a downed Firefighter. The RIT-Pak was designed to provide a firefighter "breathable air" when they are low or completely out of air in an IDLH environment and can provide assistance to a fellow firefighter that is in the process of being removed from the IDLH area or one that is trapped and is involved in a prolonged extrication. This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who have completed various Firefighting classes to keep up with their skills.

This Sunday's "EMT Fundamentals Class" had our EMS personnel going over how to use traction splints and how to conduct a patient assessment. This type of training is what will prepare our EMT Candidates who are preparing themselves for a future EMT Basic class and for our EMTs who have completed EMT Basic to keep up with their skills.

This Sunday's "Firefighter Fundamentals Class" focused on going through the skills sheets for our current Probationary Firefighters taking Firefighter I such as how to operate a chainsaw & proper ladder operations and how to properly don & doff Firefighting gear for our newer members. This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who plan on attending the New York State Firefighter I program succeed in their class and for our Firefighters who have completed Firefighter I to keep up with their skills.
