This weekend we held a "Bailout Training Practicals" class conducted by AAA Emergency Supply Co., an "MPO & Firefighter Fundamentals Class" and we held Driver Training for our members to help improve our roster of apparatus drivers.

This weekend's "Bailout Training Practicals" class conducted by AAA Emergency Supply Co. was the final portion for our interior firefighters to be properly trained on our new bailout systems. Vista Firefighters conducted 6 "jumps" using different techniques and procedures on how to operate the bailout system. This training has now certified our interior firefighters on the new bailout system recently issued by the Vista Fire Department.

This Sunday's "MPO & Firefighter Fundamentals Class" focused on learning how to operate the Engine 143 pump panel while practicing getting a draft and flowing the deck gun. This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who plan on attending the New York State Firefighter I program succeed in their class and for our Firefighters who have completed Firefighter I to keep up with their skills.

Members were trained on Engine 141 & Tanker 4 this past Sunday morning as we continue to train apparatus drivers in the Vista Fire Department. We encourage all of our members to become apparatus drivers as it helps make all of our personnel become well-rounded first responders. Depending on the Apparatus our members are training on, each prospective apparatus driver will train between 8-12 hours "behind the wheel" and 4-8 hours operating the pump panel. Once the required training is completed, each prospective apparatus driver gets tested by the head of our driver training program. Upon successfully passing the driving test, they will be a cleared apparatus driver for the rig they were training on.
