This week's Monday drill was an "Extrication" class for our Firefighters and "CME Training" for our EMT's.

This week's Fire drill had our Firefighters practicing how to properly stabilize a vehicle when it was rolled over and how to operate the extrication tools. Motor vehicle extrication is the process of removing a person who has been involved in a motor vehicle accident when conventional means of an exit are impossible or inadvisable. Vista Firefighters operated equipment such as our stabilization struts and the holmatro extrication tools.

This week's EMS drill had our EMTs and EMT Candidates reviewing triage, mass casualty incidents (MCIs), terrorism and incident command as part of their annual CME training. The CME (Continuing Medical Education) Program is so our EMTs can re-certify before their 3 years of certification for being an EMT is up. Our EMTs train throughout the year in this program so they can continue to serve our community at it's highest level.
