Propane Emergencies and Glucometry Drill for 08/14/17

By Vista Fire Department
August 15, 2017

This week's Monday Night Drill had our Firefighters learning how to respond to propane emergencies while our EMTs reviewed how to use glucometers through our CME (continuing medical education) program.

During the propane emergencies drill our Firefighters covered the chemical characteristics, specific hazards, and different types of mitigation involving propane incidents. This type of training has now better prepared our Firefighters for propane emergency responses in the future.

Our Vista EMTs spent their Monday drill participating in the Glucometry class as required by New York State so we can use glucometers on our Ambulances going forward. This drill is part of our CME (Continuing Medical Education) program so our EMTs can re-certify before their 3 years of certification as an EMT expires.
