We at the Vista Fire Department would like to congratulate Firefighter Patrick Healy on completing his probationary period in the Department through the VFD Mentor Program!

Since joining in September 2016, Firefighter Patrick Healy has completed the Firefighter I & Firefighter Survival courses at the Westchester County Fire Training Center in Valhalla, NY. Firefighter Patrick Healy actively participates during calls & drills and has been mentored throughout his probationary period by Foreman Mike Canil.

The VFD Mentor Program is a process where new members are paired up with a senior member to help guide them through their probationary period (the first 6-12 months) in the Department. This program was developed to help transition new members into the Department by understanding call response, attending weekly Monday drills and preparing them for classes they may be taking in their 1st year with the Department.
