This Sunday morning we held a "Firefighter Fundamentals Class," an "EMT Fundamentals Class" and Driver Training for our members who are becoming Apparatus Drivers on Engine 142 & Engine 143.

This week's "Firefighter Fundamentals Class" had our Firefighters practicing donning & doffing their gear, how to perform a "low profile" and a full escape followed by an SCBA breathe down. This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who plan on attending the New York State Firefighter I program succeed in their class and for our Firefighters who have completed Firefighter I to keep up with their skills.

This week's "EMT Fundamentals Class" led by former member Duncan Grossman, had our EMTs and EMT Candidates going over the musculoskeletal system. They reviewed such things as how to treat & transport musculoskeletal injuries, complications from the injuries and how to splint a musculoskeletal injury. This type of training is what will prepare our EMT Candidates planning on taking the EMT-Basic class soon and for our current EMTs to keep up with their skills.
