Cardiac Arrest Drill for 06/19/17

By Vista Fire Department
June 20, 2017

This Monday's drill saw our Firefighters and EMT's working together during several cardiac arrest scenarios.

Led by Capt. Ferman and Lt. Fisher, Vista FD members practiced their skills on how to properly respond during a cardiac arrest call by performing such tasks like initial patient care, performing CPR on a patient, setting up & attaching the "Lucas 2 electric CPR device" and getting the necessary equipment during a cardiac arrest response. Having our Firefighters & EMT's work together on these type of call scenarios is important because we are a Department that responds to both Fire and EMS responses. Working together as a team on these type of calls makes our First Responders more proficient in the event of an actual emergency.

The "Lucas 2 electric CPR device" is an automatic chest compression system that performs manual chest compressions at a high quality and volume. It helps First Responders from not being tired during CPR compressions by giving adequate chest compressions in accordance with the latest CPR guidelines.
