This Sunday morning we held a "Firefighter Fundamentals Class" for our members who are currently taking Firefighter I & Firefighters who are keeping up with their basic skills and Driver Training for our members who are becoming Apparatus Drivers on Engine 142 & the Ambulances.

This week's "Firefighter Fundamentals Class" had our Firefighters participating in a "TL-9 Stabilizer" demonstration courtesy of T and J Rescue Enterprises followed by practicing hose line advancement off of Engine 143. The "TL-9" is a stabilizer device that allows the hydraulic spreaders to act as a jack vertically to lift a vehicle in order to free a victim trapped beneath. Following this demonstration our Firefighters practiced stretching a charged 1-3/4" hose line into a building. This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who are currently attending the New York State Firefighter I program succeed in their class and for our Firefighters who have completed Firefighter I to keep up with their skills.
