This week's Monday Drill saw the Vista Firefighters & EMTs practicing search & rescue, hose line advancement and rehab operations at an acquired structure alongside the South Salem Volunteer Fire Department.

Led by Captain Mike Peck, the Vista and South Salem Firefighters entered the acquired structure that was filled with smoke from a fog machine by having one search team and one hose line attack team practicing how they would enter a residential structure fire. Crews would perform 1st & 2nd floor searches while the hose line attack teams practiced locating and extinguish the body of fire. After the Firefighters were done with each evolution, they were checked out at the rehab station by the Vista EMTs.

This type of training was a great opportunity to work with the South Salem Fire Department as the likelihood of working together during a fire is extremely high. As neighboring Departments, both the Vista & South Salem Fire Departments try to train together in the event of a mutual aid response.
