This Sunday morning was very busy at the Vista Firehouse as we held a "Firefighter Fundamentals Class" for our members who are preparing themselves to take Firefighter I this upcoming Winter/Spring and for our Firefighters who are keeping up with their basic skills, an "EMT Fundamentals Class" for our members who are preparing themselves to take the EMT-Basic class this Winter/Spring, an AHA CPR class for those members who need to re-certify their CPR skills and we also held Driver Training for our members who are becoming Apparatus Drivers/MPO's on Engine 142 & Engine 143.

Led by Captain Mike Peck & Lead Foreman Phil Katz, this week's "Firefighter Fundamentals Class" reviewed the 2-minute drill, 45 second drill and they went through a mask confidence course. This type of training is what will prepare our Probationary Firefighters who are attending this class for the New York State Firefighter I program several months from now and for our Firefighters who have completed Firefighter I to keep up with their skills.

This week's "EMT Fundamentals Class" led by Foreman Allie Fisher & Foreman Jake Melcher, went over practicing vitals in an Ambulance setting, medical terminology and how it applies to EMS & pre-hospital care. This type of training is what will prepare our EMT Candidates who are taking the EMT-Basic class over the next several months and those EMT Candidates who are preparing themselves for a future EMT-Basic class.
