Vista FD Line Officers take office for 2016-2017 fiscal year

The Vista Fire Department is proud to announce the following Line Officers taking office effective today May 1, 2016 and lasting until April 30, 2017:

Fire Captain Michael Peck
EMS Captain Judy Saslow
Fire Lieutenant Brian Porco
EMS Lieutenant Deborah Ferman
Fire Lieutenant Wilmer Cervantes
Safety Officer James Hackett

We wish all our Line Officers the best of luck as they begin their term in office today!

Chief Jeffrey Peck - Chief Peck returns to the elected office after being appointed in September 2014. Chief Peck is a 2nd generation Chief in the Vista Fire Department as his Grandfather, Ex-Chief Jack Peck, served as the 11th Chief of the Vista Fire Department from 1960-1962. He is also a 4th generation Vista Fire Department member as his brother, Capt. Mike Peck, currently serves as our Fire Captain.

Fire Captain Mike Peck - Capt. Peck begins his 2nd year as Fire Captain in the Vista Fire Department having served in the position last year. Capt. Peck is a 4th generation Vista Fire Department member and is the brother of our Chief Jeffrey Peck. He is our Training Officer, is in-charge of all the Fire Apparatus and is overseeing the development of our new Fire Engine that will be coming to the Vista Firehouse this Fall.

EMS Captain Judy Saslow - Capt. Saslow returns as our EMS Captain after previously serving in the position for the last two years. Capt. Saslow is our Training Officer & in-charge of all the Ambulances within the Vista Fire Department.

Fire Lieutenant Brian Porco - Lt. Porco returns as a Lieutenant in 2016-2017 after serving in the role last year for the first time. Lt. Porco is in-charge of hydrants and gear & equipment within the Vista Fire Department

EMS Lieutenant Deborah Ferman - Lt. Ferman returns as a Lieutenant in 2016-2017 after serving in that position for the first time last year. Lt. Ferman oversees EMS gear & equipment and helps Capt. Saslow with the EMS day-to-day operations.

Fire Lieutenant Wilmer Cervantes - Lt. Cervantes joins the Line Officers after successfully serving as Lead Foreman last fiscal year and Foreman for Tanker 4 the last several years. Joining the Vista Fire Department in September 2011, Lt. Cervantes has quickly showcased the necessary tools to serve as an effective new leader in our Department. We look forward to having Lt. Cervantes as an Officer in 2016-2017.

Safety Officer James Hackett - Safety Officer Hackett has previously served the Vista Fire Department as it's Chief for 3 years (1991-1994) and will bring his 37 years of service in the Vista Fire Department to ensure the ongoing safety of all personnel on Emergency scenes in 2016-2017.

All Line Officer positions were elected by the Vista Fire Department membership and approved by the Vista District #1 Board of Commissioners.
