October 2015 Member Spotlight: Foreman Jake Melcher

How long have you been a member for?

I have been a member since July 2014.

What made you join the Vista Volunteer Fire Department?

I wanted to pursue a career in both Fire & EMS so I joined the Vista FD in hopes of beginning that career path.

What does serving the Vista Fire District community mean to you?

Making a difference for the citizens of Vista. Helping people when they are in their most time of need and doing it with a smile, and looking for nothing but the satisfaction of helping others.

What has been your greatest achievement with the Vista Volunteer Fire Department?

My greatest achievement with the Vista Fire Department is completing Firefighter I (the first class you take to become a Firefighter) and being a part of a family of amazing people.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about joining the Vista Volunteer Fire Department?

I would tell them that the Vista Fire Department is a great, heart warming group. We train hard to be the most prepared we can be for any type of emergency.
