| The Vista Fire Department proudly congratulates Foreman Grant Vialardi on successfully completing the Leadership Development Certification Series (LDCS) EMS Officer I Course, a comprehensive 42-hour professional development program offered through a partnership between Columbia Southern University and the International Association of Fire Chiefs. The LDCS EMS Officer I Course is part of the IAFC’s Officer Development Program and is designed to prepare current and aspiring EMS officers for the administrative, operational, and interpersonal responsibilities associated with supervising emergency medical services personnel. Throughout the course, participants examine a wide range of leadership topics, including effective communication and conflict resolution, crew management and personnel development, operational readiness, incident management, and quality improvement through data-driven decision-making. The program also addresses EMS finance and budgeting, regulations and compliance, documentation, workforce wellness, resilience, and long-term personnel sustainability. The program emphasizes competency-based professional development and prepares participants to make sound leadership decisions while managing both the day-to-day responsibilities and broader organizational challenges associated with EMS supervision. To successfully earn certification, participants must complete the program and achieve a passing grade of 70 percent or higher on the certification examination. Graduates receive certification through the International Association of Fire Chiefs and are eligible to receive 4.2 continuing education units or one undergraduate college credit hour through Columbia Southern University. By completing this advanced leadership program, Foreman Vialardi has further strengthened his leadership, decision-making, and management capabilities while continuing his professional development as an officer of the Vista Fire Department. Congratulations to Grant on his dedication to continued education, leadership development, professionalism, and excellence in the fire and emergency medical services.
