Firefighter/EMT Ashtin Rama Completes Basic Wildland Fire Suppression Training

The Vista Fire Department proudly congratulates Firefighter/EMT Ashtin Rama on successfully completing the Basic Wildland Fire Suppression course, a comprehensive 12-hour training program hosted by the Mahopac Fire Department in Mahopac, New York.

Developed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers and the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, this course prepares firefighters to safely and effectively assist with wildland fire suppression operations.

Throughout the training, participants studied agency jurisdiction and responsibilities, wildland fire behavior, fire elements and size-up, and the proper use of specialized tools and equipment. The course also covered general fire suppression strategies, methods for securing a control line, and essential safety standards for operating in challenging wildland environments.

By completing this training, Firefighter/EMT Rama has strengthened his knowledge and preparedness to respond to wildland fire incidents while helping protect fellow firefighters, our community, and the surrounding environment.
