| This week’s Monday drill focused on an "SOG Review" for our members.
During this drill, Vista Fire Department personnel conducted a comprehensive review of our Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs). These guidelines are written directives that outline recommended strategies, operational expectations, and safety considerations for emergency response. The purpose of the drill was to reinforce member familiarity with department procedures, promote consistency in decision-making, and ensure operations are conducted in a safe, coordinated, and predictable manner on the fireground and during EMS incidents. Emphasis was placed on understanding individual roles and responsibilities, accountability, communication, and risk-management principles. Members were also provided an opportunity to ask questions and clarify procedures to improve operational confidence and reduce confusion during real incidents, helping ensure all personnel operate under the same expectations as we move forward through the year.
