This week's Monday Night Drill was a "V.E.I.S" drill for our Firefighters and a "Pediatric Emergencies" drill for our EMTs.

The "V.E.I.S." drill focused on the firefighting technique known as V.E.I.S. (Vent, Enter, Isolate, and Search). Vista Firefighters practiced venting a second-story window using a 24-foot ladder, entering the room after it was vented, isolating the space to control the environment, and conducting a rapid search to locate the patient. The V.E.I.S. technique is a critical method for Firefighters to perform coordinated rescues during emergencies.

In the "Pediatric Emergencies" drill, Vista EMS personnel reviewed how to respond to emergencies involving pediatric patients. Topics covered included handling various types of pediatric emergencies, such as trauma, seizures, and measles. After completing the drill, Vista EMS personnel are now better prepared to assist pediatric patients in the field when dispatched to an emergency.
