This Sunday morning, we held our "Onboarding Module Training Program" for several new members of the Vista Fire Department.

The session focused on two core modules:

Module 1 – "Now That I’ve Joined, What’s Next?"
This foundational module introduces probationary members to the department and outlines what to expect during their initial phase. It covers key responsibilities such as responding to calls, attending drills, assisting with truck checks, and understanding the expectations of being a new member. The goal is to help members acclimate quickly and begin contributing confidently.

Module 2 – "Learning the Radio Room"
This module familiarizes new members with one of the most vital communication hubs in the department. It provides an in-depth look at the radio room’s functions and operations, ensuring that probationary members are comfortable using radio equipment and understand communication protocols during emergencies.

The "Onboarding Module Training Program" is an eight-module curriculum designed to equip probationary members with the essential knowledge, skills, and mindset they need to succeed. Each module builds on the last, blending hands-on training with important theoretical insights into firefighting, EMS, and departmental culture.

This training not only provides a solid technical foundation but also fosters a sense of connection, confidence, and pride in being part of the Vista Fire Department. By the end of the program, new members are well-prepared to serve safely, effectively, and as part of a unified team.
