This week's Monday Night Drill was a "Initial Attack and Preplans" drill for our Firefighters and an "MCI & Triage Operations" drill for our EMTs.

The "Initial Attack and Preplans" drill had our Vista Firefighters reviewing a coordinated initial fire attack for structures in the Vista Fire District by utilizing our preplans system. Vista Firefighters went over several preplans in the Vista Fire District and then put together their learning by conducting a tabletop exercise. The tabletop exercise had Vista Firefighters utilizing the preplan assigned to them and discussing how the initial fire attack would take place for the given structure.

The "MCI & Triage Operations" drill had our Vista EMS personnel reviewing our mass casualty incident (MCI) standard operating guideline (SOG) on how we would respond to these types of emergencies, the role incident command plays in these type of events and the equipment used on an MCI incident. Our EMS personnel then walked through several triage and MCI scenarios by going over how they would handle patient care during an MCI incident.
