Sometime during the late evening of October 25th and early morning of October 26th, several businesses in Vista, NY, a hamlet of the Town of Lewisboro, were burglarized. The local fire department jumped into action and made a call for community support to assist these businesses with the damage caused and monies lost during this unfortunate experience.

President and Captain of the Vista Fire Department Phil Katz offers, “we are grateful for the support our community showed for our local businesses. Each business affected by this unfortunate circumstance has received $800 in support from the generous people of Vista, South Salem and the surrounding area.” Chief Jeff Peck said, “our businesses are the fabric of our community and when we called upon the residents of Vista to come together and help, they responded generously. We are stronger together.”

The Vista Fire Department hosted a “Trick or Treat at the Vista Firehouse” event where residents made donations to the fund for the affected business owners and purchased #VistaStrong tee-shirts, where all proceeds went to help the businesses impacted by these burglaries. The business owners of The Farmer’s Grind, Paul’s Pharmacy and La Familia of Vista were all grateful for the support from their patrons and neighbors.

The Vista Fire Department at 377 Smith Ridge Rd. South Salem, (Vista hamlet) NY., is currently collecting toys for the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys For Tots program through December 5th and is fundraising for a 20 year observance of the 9/11 attacks. Anyone who wishes to support the Vista Fire Department’s community initiatives, can do so by visiting our website at vistafd.org and donate using the PayPal link.
