This week's Monday Night Drill was a "Stabilization" drill for our Firefighters and a "Special Needs Patients Webinar" drill for our EMTs.

The "Stabilization" drill had our Vista Firefighters practicing how to stabilize an automobile during a motor vehicle accident scenario. Vista Firefighters practiced stabilization operations on a vehicle during an under-ride car accident scenario utilizing tools such as the Res-Q-Jack to maintain stabilization of the vehicle. Stabilization is the application of equipment and techniques designed to stop the vehicle from moving in any direction.

The "Special Needs Patients Webinar" drill had our Vista EMS personnel reviewing how to properly treat autistic and special needs patients. Leading this drill was Paramedic Hamlet Cuello, the Operations Supervisor at Westchester EMS, who helped teach our EMS personnel techniques on helping aid autistic or special needs patients and how to properly approach them to give patient care. We would like to thank Supervisor Cuello for leading our drill this past Monday night! This drill had our EMS personnel logging onto their computers due to the COVID-19 pandemic as the Vista Fire Department continues with holding online learning.
