This week's Monday Night Drill was an "Engine Company Operations - Hose Line Advancement" drill for our Firefighters and an "EMS Skills Review" drill for our EMTs.

The "Engine Company Operations - Hose Line Advancement" drill had our Vista Firefighters reviewing how to stretch 200 feet of 1-3/4" hose line off of each Vista Fire Department Engine. As Vista Fire Department personnel practiced stretching the hose lines, our motor pump operators practiced supplying the fire attack teams with water by operating each Engine's pump panel. Lastly our members concluded the drill by going over drafting operations to practice refilling our Engines with water after a fire has occurred.

The "EMS Skills Review" drill had our Vista EMS personnel reviewing how to properly take a blood pressure, pulse and how to splint a patient. With several of our members currently enrolled in EMT basic classes this type of training helped prepare them for their finals and also gave our current EMTs an opportunity to practice their skills. It's important for our Vista EMS personnel to review these fundamentals so their skills remain sharp during any type of EMS related emergency.
