This Sunday morning we held a "Firefighter Skills Class Webinar" and an "EMT Skills Class Webinar" for our weekly Sunday Training. This training had our members logging onto their computers due to the COVID-19 pandemic as the Vista Fire Department continues with holding online learning.

This Sunday's "Firefighter Skills Class Webinar" had our Firefighting personnel going over fire ground operations. Vista Firefighters also received an overview of the aspects of engine company operations including the importance of accountability, how to conduct a size up on an emergency scene and how to properly put the first hose line into operation during a fire. This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who plan on attending the New York State Firefighter I program succeed in their class and for our Firefighters who have completed Firefighter I to keep up with their skills.

This Sunday's "EMT Skills Class Webinar" had our EMS personnel conducting a "back to basics" overview and what EMT students can expect before they enter an EMT-Basic course. Vista EMTs also received a "virtual tour" of our Ambulances looking at where our equipment is located and how it is properly used on an emergency scene. This type of training is what will prepare our EMT Candidates who are planning to take a future EMT Basic class succeed and for our EMTs who have completed EMT Basic to keep up with their skills.
