Please take a moment to read about the precautions the Vista Fire Department is taking due to the COVID-19 pandemic and what you can expect when you call 911:

Our members continue to work tirelessly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Guidelines and recommendations are evolving, sometimes on a daily basis. Now, more than ever, it is imperative that 911 is called for only true emergencies. We want the public to know what to expect if you must call 911.

-- Questioning about the presence of any flu-like symptoms

-- Increased levels of personal protective equipment worn by responders, including gloves and surgical masks

-- Increased distance between responders and patients for initial evaluation of conscious patients

-- Two person initial evaluation crew for medical emergencies to minimize potential exposure to first responders

These actions obviously change depending on the nature of the incident and in no way diminish the commitment of our members. Our members will continue to take life saving action to protect public safety, sometimes at great peril to themselves.
