EMS Call Scenarios drill

For this week's drill we gave our EMT's and Firefighters an opportunity to train at one of our member's houses to give a realistic feel on how an EMS call would go.

Led by EMS Captain Judy Saslow & Chief Jeff Peck, Vista EMT's & Firefighters would respond from our Firehouse to the dispatched location for a specific type of EMS call. To make things more realistic, the drill instructors would stagger the other members response times and send them in their personal operating vehicle (POV) as if they were responding from their home/missed getting on the Ambulance at our Firehouse.

From there the Vista FD crews operated for the given dispatched call as if it was the real thing by parking the Ambulance correctly at the house, getting the necessary equipment needed for the given call, assessing the "patient" correctly as per the "drill dispatch" and placing the "patient" in our Ambulance for transport to a local hospital. This type of training is vital for our members as this is the closest thing our volunteers will receive to it actually being the "real thing" regarding EMS calls.
