To help prepare Probationary FF Marc Baiocco for his Firefighter I course, his mentor FF Phil Katz and recent Firefighter I graduate FF Jake Melcher trained with Probationary FF Baiocco on Wednesday night. Probationary FF Baiocco recently started the brand new 110-hour Firefighter I & Firefighter Survival course this past Tuesday. The Firefighter I course is the first class Vista Firefighters take to train them as Interior Firefighters through the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control (OFPC).

Along with just starting Firefighter I, Probationary FF Marc Baiocco is also part of the Vista Fire Department's Mentor Program that helps new members through their probationary period (6-12 months) by pairing them up with another Vista Firefighter or EMT to serve as their mentor. Probationary FF Baiocco is paired up with FF Phil Katz who has been responsible for helping him prepare for Firefighter I class and help guide Probationary FF Baiocco through his first year with the VFD.
