Hydrant Service and CME Training Drills for 11/18/19

This week's Monday Night Drill was "Hydrant Service" for our Firefighters and a "Respiratory and Psychiatric CME" drill for our EMTs.

The "Hydrant Service" drill had our Vista Firefighters servicing the dry hydrants as a preventative maintenance measure for the Vista Fire Department. This type of regular procedure allows motor pump operators (MPOs) to get water faster than they would when a hydrant may be obstructed with silt built up from the year. While the Vista Firefighters serviced and checked all the dry hydrants in the district, it also gave those training on the pump panel an opportunity to practice the skills they've learned the last couple of months.

The "Respiratory and Psychiatric CME" drill had our Vista EMS personnel visiting Pound Ridge VAC to continue their medical education. Vista EMS personnel reviewed respiratory emergencies and psychiatric response for this month's CME training topic. Our Department appreciates the opportunity to train with neighboring agencies and as always, extend our thanks to Pound Ridge VAC for hosting this past Monday's CME lecture.
