On the morning of Sunday, September 8th, the Vista Fire Department held a 9/11 Memorial Service at the Town of Lewisboro 9/11 Monument behind the Vista Firehouse.

During the event, the Vista Fire Department also honored Zachary Jackson, a passerby who helped aid a patient who had been overcome with heat exhaustion following a fall in their front yard earlier this year. Zachary was driving alongside Route 123 when he spotted someone lying on the ground in front of their home. Feeling like something wasn't right, Zachary turned around to check what was going on. Once he made contact with the patient, Zachary quickly called 9-1-1 and kept the patient cool until the Vista Fire Department EMS crews arrived.

The patient was able to get treated by Vista Fire Department EMS crews thanks to Zachary's quick actions and heroism that day. In the spirit of September 11th and the bravery showcased that day, the Vista Volunteer Fire Department acknowledged Zachary Jackson for his efforts by presenting him with a plaque.

We would like to thank everyone who attended the services as we honored and remembered those lives lost from September 11th, 2001. We would also like to send our sincere thanks to Retired FDNY Lieutenant Dave Russell, who was a first responder on September 11th for speaking at the event this year.

We will never forget.
