This week's Monday Night Drill was "Hose Line Advancement - Preconnects" for our Firefighters, an "EMS Back-to-Basics - Stretcher Operations" drill for our EMTs and "Bailout Instructor Training" for our Firefighters who will be handling internal bailout training in the Vista Fire Department.

The "Hose Line Advancement - Preconnects" drill had our Vista Firefighters reviewing how to stretch an 1-3/4" preconnect hoseline. Firefighters did a walkthrough on how to stretch a charged hose line from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor when it was "dry" and not charged with water. Following the walkthrough Vista Firefighters stretched 200' of 1-3/4" charged preconnect hoseline through several evolutions covering basement stretches and 1st floor to 2nd floor stretches.

The "EMS Back-to-Basics - Stretcher Operations" drill had our Vista EMS personnel reviewing how to properly use the stretcher. EMTs learned about the proper moving procedures with or without a patient and the importance of communication when operating a stretcher. Vista EMS personnel also reviewed the operating guidelines from the stretcher manufacture.

The "Bailout Instructor Training" had our Vista Firefighters who will be handling our internal training going over the bailout system for instructor purposes. This type of training is the first part of our Vista Firefighters becoming bailout training instructors to handle our annual training moving forward. Once the instructor training is completed, our Vista Fire Department instructors will begin the annual bailout training process with the rest of our Firefighting personnel.
